Surgery – general and orthopaedic

At Greenlane Veterinary Clinic we are able to provide you with a wide range of surgical services, from standard procedures such as de-sexing and dental care, through to more complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries. We provide modern anaesthetic equipment, intensive monitoring during and after surgery and careful consideration to pain management. Our team of veterinary surgeons and nursing staff are dedicated to ensure your pet has a safe and comfortable stay with us.

Please drop your pet off for surgery the morning of the procedure from 8 – 8.30am. We are able to accept animals arriving from 7.40am by prior arrangement. If a morning admission is inconvenient, your pet can stay the night prior to surgery.

Every day we have a dedicated surgical team operating. Our veterinarians are all very experienced and are happy to talk you through the procedure your pet requires if you have any queries.

Procedures are started in the morning as the surgical team works through the operating list. This may mean your pet will not be operated on until mid – late morning. If you would like to be informed immediately when their procedure starts or finishes, please let us know and we are more than happy to text you updates.

All animals having a sedation or general anaesthetic are monitored during their recovery by a nurse in our recovery cages. They are later transferred back to their beds when they have recovered enough to eat and drink by themselves. They are able to go home when they have finished their recovery phase (at least 3 hrs post-operatively). These details will be explained with you prior to your pet coming into the hospital.
